Hiking Mount Washington, NH 9.03.09 : yet another wonderful hike to the summit of Mt Washington via Jewell trail for the 9.03.09 sunset. With so much moisture and haze the diffusion produced a spectacular and long lasting display of the sun's light.

Kinda Drippy : I love to walk around in all sorts of weather. During several mornings, the previous night's rain fell in still air.
Drops of rain gathered in low places and I contorted myself to find and then look into these bulbous liquid mirrors.

Tulips & More! Galore 2009 : What a display these plants provided this spring! The color jumped into the air and gentle light revealed lines and texture for those who stopped to look.

Organic Farming : Josh & Jean are performing the admirable task of caring for the soil while growing delicious foods for our consumption. They, along with fellow gardeners, are begining the season by planting the cool weather crops of potatos and onions. Using an 80yrs old potato planter they got the job done in quick order. I was cool watching them work the soil efficiently and carefully with the "old" machine. It worked flawlessly! There are also "hands at work" mixed in. This IS a love of the land... way to grow!

Magnolia Stellata 2009 : This Spring, 2009, I had the opportunity to photograph this beautiful tree at Kit's house. Although it was May, mid summer warmth arrived with 90 degree temps for 4 days and the bloom cycle which normally is 2-3 weeks was shortened to 4 days. I fortunately had the time during those evenings and some mornings to capture the flowering. ...too bad I couldn't have also captured the scent. Thanks Kit!

Butterflys & Bugs : Flowers are the main objective...but with the flowers come the little critters. So hey, might as well enjoy their company too!
Butterflys, aphids, spiders, inch worms, hover flys, lady bugs ... like flowers they each have a certain personality.

Summer's Strut : WOW! This Summer's copious rains have given the plants extra oomph to make the flowers ---
I found Echinacea, a field of Sunflowers, bi-colored Gladiola, a vibrant Dahlia, Potato Vine, Butterfly Weed, Celosia and Black-eyed Susan.
Hope they show off here like they did in the gardens!

little boats : We found this still and beautiful boat commandeered by a king fisher near Harwick MA , Cape Cod. It rained the first night then the next day I ventured into the mud flats for a closer and sunnier view. Converting a few shots to monochrome really sets a mood....don't you think?
During another snowshoe in the woods along the Exeter River NH, maybe 2 miles in from the road, this icey captive became an amazing opportunity for me. I'm so glad I like the snow. Sometimes it takes me places I might otherwise not go....

The Flow : The West Peabody River in the Great Gulf Wilderness of the Northern White Mountains, NH
This spot in the Presidential Range is lush and quiet; where green is everywhere and water very abundant.
The flower is Mountain Avens, geum peckii, in the rose family - bright sun faded through clouds giving nice light.
